There was a time when every well equipped home or office had a scanner in it. There the scanner performed its sombre service, despite no one knowing what really went on beneath the scanner's closed lid. Digi.flat 90-12 is composed of thirty flatbed scanners that have been assembled into a mural. The duplication process of a scanner is both visually and acoustically an amazing aesthetic phenomenon.
The scanners remain recognisable within the mural, impressively displaying the movements of the scanners' light rods, sweeping back and forth. The scanners do not move in unison nor are they fully synchronised. The phase shifts caused by the wave like motion of the scanners results in a meditative effect after prolonged observation.
