“algal blooms” imagines a speculative future in which microalgae become the dominant life form after human extinction caused by environmental destruction. The installation reconstructs a dark, underground church where the few remaining humans worship algae as the savior of life on Earth.

The space evokes confinement and anxiety, while living non-human organisms grow and breathe visibly. Sounds recorded in an intensive care unit fill the room, referencing life-support systems and the emotional threshold between survival and extinction. The work reflects on shifting hierarchies between humans and non-human life forms in a damaged ecological future.
